[Skillshare] Identity and Web Design: Create a Visual Language From Scratch

Interested to learn how I approach a professional assignment? In this class, you will learn a few tricks on how to come up with a logo and a visual language from scratch for my friends at PEI Toys. Furthermore, we will dive into how to design a kick-ass website from ideation to final production.

• This class is ideal for mid-level / Senior Designers and Art Directors interested in Brand Design, Interaction Design, Visual Design and Motion Graphics. It is not recommended for total beginners since I won’t be designing every lesson step-by-step.

Software used: Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects. If you prefer Sketch or Adobe XD that should also be fine. The class also mentions 3D (Cinema4D), modern web technologies like WebGL, AE plugins like Motion 2 or Bodymovin, and production plugins like Zeplin or Avocode.

Project Description

• Creating a logo from scratch for an Art Toy brand.
• Putting together a visual language that will allow the client to use in their online & offline communication.
• Designing a highly crafted website that will help the client spread their message and increase sales by presenting their product in a fun & engaging way.

If you are a student, the main assignment would be to design a logo. I would suggest sticking to an Art Toy brand and using a grid on the background, so you can use my class as a reference.

You could either come up with a new Art Toy brand, naming included, or approach a redesign of the current PEI Toys logo.

If you want to go further and animate the logo you are very welcome. Also if you want to start developing a visual language to match your brand. I’d encourage you to do that on a web but feel free to do it on any other piece of communication (poster, banners, catalog, business card, etc).

Anyhow, I’d love to see what you come up with and hope you are willing to share it ! I’ll be happy to give you feedback and guide you through the process if needed.
